Scattered Pieces of Me

Scattered pieces of me
Can't put your face back together
For seven years we raced
Hand in hand in the sand and storm
Giving our all for the better
But we got worse
We edged the other off:
Pushing,
Shoving,
Scratching...
You lied to my face
I called you a disgrace
And every day we became less of ourselves
Filling our emptiness with white noise
We were no longer we
I wanted no more of you
And you had none of me
Powerless was our love
And death only sat there waiting
Scattered pieces of me
Can only put my half back together
And I pray to God
That I may fill the other
With new pieces of me
In time

Sunday

Burn & Bake

I stare into the night
The night of flying kites
No water by my side
No food to make my way
The sun will burn tomorrow
The land will bake
And I won't see a thing
But for now I have the night
A kite just fell
I think I might sleep
Or I'll just wait
Till someone hears the cry
Of my heartbeat

Was reading about Drumpf and Syrian refugees.

Wednesday

Talk Your Ugly To Me

I kiss your lips
I kiss your lips a thousand times
Your eyes, your dark eyes,
They mesmerise
Every day I pray,
I pray for your soul
Let it not just hurt but grow
Your heart may cry,
Mourn and despair, fear and worry
Don't keep it all in
Don't let it implode
Talk to me, talk your ugly to me
Talk the scary, the bad, and the weak
Talk the happy, the gratuitous,
Tell me your day
Tell me your hopes, those dreams
I'll kiss them all
I'll kiss them all a thousand times

The first two lines came to me first while I was checking out some guys' Instagram account :x

Friday

Life Is A Lot Like Baking

"I think life is a lot like baking. No matter how much I fail at it, I enjoy the anticipation of something good coming out of the oven. Even if it sucks, I'll still eat it. So, I guess I kind of suck at life, but I'm still living it and anticipating the next batch of failure. Oh, the joy of anticipating what failures lie ahead."

Thursday

The Sun Will Shine

There are many people you could have known
Their eyes reflect things of old
And every time you say their name
It never sounds the same

There are many trains you could go on
Their tracks trace back to your home
And lovely trees will say hello
It never sounds too old

The sun will shine for the light in your eyes
The moon will glow for the dreams you hold
The river will sing to the leaves in the wind
The earth will move to the beat of your heart

There are many people you could have known
Their eyes show you on your way home
And every time they say your name
You are never the same

After watching two sci-fi movies, I Origins and The Giver, in one go, and before that, rewatched the grandfather scenes in The Hour Of The Lynx, I got philosophical and this song came to me.

The Laughing Man

Do you hear the laughing man?
The laughing man?
The laughing man?
Do you hear the laughing man
That lives inside my head?

Yes, I hear the laughing man.
The laughing man?
The laughing man.
Yes, I hear the laughing man
That lives inside your head.

Now, we fear the laughing man.
The laughing man?
The laughing man.
Now, we fear the laughing man
That lives inside my head.

Tuesday

She Begged

She begged the warmth of the sun
To engulf her aimless spirit.
She yearned the sharpness of the sword
To carve her the right path.
She believed in comfortable shoes
To make her feet walk.
She wanted her hands untied
To spread her arms wide.
She waited for the wind to rise
To bring her joy and peace.
She laughed in its presence
To join in the fun.
